Case Study: Going Green

The Challenge

Crown Center is a 24 acre campus of six suburban low rise office buildings totaling 435,000 square feet. The buildings were built in the 1980's and the owner desired to achieve a LEED certification on the buildings. We were challenged with achieving this goal with minimal affect on CAM rates and minimal cost to the owner.

Midgard's Solution

We implemented a paper recycling program on the campus. We also implemented green landscaping, green cleaning and green pest control practices. Upcoming projects include changing all the lighting fixtures on campus, installing energy star rated HVAC equipment and state of the art window tinting for less energy usage and added hurricane protection.

The Outcome

We are in the process of applying for our Energy Star rating and have registered 1475 Crown Center for LEED EB. We expect to achieve this designation by the end of 2009 and will be one of the first buildings in South Florida to have qualified for LEED EB.
